Tosa Ken Dogs - Health Issues
Tosa Ken Dogs are generally considered robust and healthy. However, no dog breed is totally devoid of health problems. Check that both parents have the CERF (eyes) and OFA (hips and elbows) certificates. The Tosa Ken Dog can be also prone to bloat.

There are no special requirements as far as grooming of the Tosa Ken breed goes. Brushing and combing will hardly make a problem, as the dog normally enjoys grooming process. Give your dog a good hand massage during a shedding period. Check your Tosa Ken's eyes and ears to prevent infection from cropping up. Clip some hair inside the ears to make the air passage clear.

Nail clipping is an important part of a grooming session. If you are uncomfortable about nail clipping and fear that you can injure the dog, take your Tosa Ken to a veterinarian or a professional groomer to do it. Short-coated, Tosa Ken Dogs require minimum grooming.
